Bold as a Lion

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1

The African Lion is feared by the people and other animals. Its power and majesty are revered by man. On the plains of Africa young boys became men only by an act of bravery. Many times this required them to slay an African Lion. The boys learned how to respond to a lion’s body language. They know a lion’s intentions by the way the big cat hung its head or displayed its teeth. Lion’s don’t lie. The African Lion tells the truth.

What is truth?

Truthfulness is communicating by life and word what is genuine and accurate.

We sure live in a time where truth seems hard to find.

Thank you Dwayne Mast for giving a great children’s message on Sunday! You told the story of the African Lion in a way that the kids and adults present will remember for along time. You challenged us all to be honest, tell the truth.
There are five ways that we can do this.

Five I Wills . . .

  • I will tell the truth.
  • I will encourage others to tell the truth.
  • I will not cheat or steal.
  • I will admit when I am wrong.
  • I will not exaggerate to make things seem different than what they are.

Truthfulness is communicating by life and word what is genuine and accurate. Telling the truth isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Telling the truth is the right thing to do.

Are you an honest and truthful person?
Are you honest with God, yourself and others?
I hope so. When we are honest and walking in fellowship with God we can live our lives boldly, like a lion. When we are not walking in fellowship with God we will constantly be looking over our shoulder, wondering when our past or decisions will catch up with us. We don’t have to live this way.

Proverbs 28:13 helps us understand how to walk in truth and honesty. Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. Proverbs 28:13

We need to confess our sin and turn to God to receive His mercy. This is His grace and truth working in our lives. That is what the Gospel is all about. Stop concealing what has already been revealed to God. Acknowledge your need for God today. You will be glad you did!
