Clear Conscience

Do you sleep at night? Seriously, do you get a good nights sleep or are your thoughts going a mile a minute? There are a lot of reasons people don’t sleep well. Stress, anxiety, fear of the unknown. What is your reason?

One reason people don’t sleep at night is because they don’t have a clear conscience. Are there things going on in your personal life that are keeping you awake at night?

What are some of the areas I am talking about? Sunday I asked people to look at the following five areas and ask the question, Is my conscience clear?

  1. Is my conscience clear with my family?
  2. Is my conscience clear with my church family?
  3. Is my conscience clear with the lost world?
  4. Is my conscience clear in my workplace?
  5. Is my conscience clear in my past?

What exactly does it mean to have a clear conscience? When I have a clear conscience there is no obstruction in my fellowship with God or any other person.

Do you have a clear conscience? Can I look at your time card? Can I look at your taxes? Can I look at your web browser or the sites you have visited on your iPad?

If you don’t have a clear conscience before God and others you can’t fully serve Him or expect His blessing upon your life. You can live in denial and think that God should bless you when you go to Him in prayer. Well, guess what? He can’t wink at sin and He will not bless you if you are walking in disobedience with a guilty conscience. If you want to experience revival in your life it is time to get honest with God and others.  Paul puts it this way in Acts 24:16, So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward both God and man.

So what happens if you go to the person and come clean and they don’t want to have any part of it? Guess what? That happens. Life doesn’t always get wrapped up nicely in a pretty box with a bow on it. If you go the person and confess and come clean, you have done all that God would ask of you. You do not have to be burdened a guilty conscience. You can walk forward in faith and forgiveness and know that you have done all that God would expect of you. I know it isn’t easy to do but you can do it.

Going to a person and being honest with them about the barrier or burden that exists between you can be one of the most difficult things in life to do. I can tell you from personal experience that it is worth it. Walking in freedom from the burden is totally worth it. So, if you have an area in your life you need to deal with? Deal with it today! You don’t have to walk in bondage! You can walk in freedom!

Consider this: “A clear conscience never fears midnight knocking”
